"Still Here"
The air has lost it's breath.
I stand here silent now,
Looking back in time
From where these flowers grow.
I was not there,
I did not run,
I did not smell the dust
Nor hear the sounds
Now etched in minds
But still I felt the sudden shock
Of what we cannot comprehend.
Now, still, I stand,
These miles away,
Yet still with images in mind
As fresh as yesterday.
This was not some glorious sacrifice,
A most un-holy waste of life
And I shall not recall whose cause,
But I'm still here,...
So here I pause,
To pray.
