SPEAKER DESIGNS!
(for the skilled or the brave)

Due to extreme pressure, I have put this page up for those of you who want to build your own bins and cabs, or get your mate who's a good chippy to do it for you!
In most cases, the material is 18mm ply, so unless I say otherwise, that's what you need to use. Yes you can do it in 18mm chip or MDF but that gets a lot heavier and for the larger bins, I really do mean a lot! (For a large PA bass horn, it's the difference between a mobile rig and rig that needs a bus for the roadies and a large truck for the gear!!) If you want to save money on the materials because ply is slightly more expensive, be prepared to put it in the gas tank instead!

I have a copy of THE CABINET HANDBOOK, an amazingly handy manual from Celestion that is sadly no longer printed! As there is a lot of useful stuff in it, I still use these designs and if you want to build decent boxes that your speakers will work well in, I suggest you do the same.

First up is the 1x12 or 2x10 guitar cab. I have made several of these and seen a lot of them about. It's a tried and tested design that will perform like any classic combo cab and is relatively simple construction.
